Week 2 Recap

Another week has gone by, and it’s time to check in with the Internets about my progress. Keeps me accountable; keeps you entertained (or not). Anywhozzle...

Tracking
I sort of stopped tracking. I did on and off, but when I’m dealing with a whole foods, high protein approach, tracking doesn’t seem as necessary to keep me in check. If I were dealing with calorie counting, it would be a different story. So I didn’t track much, and I’m unconcerned about this. Not sure how I’ll handle this moving forward.

Eating
… Therefore I can’t really tell you about exactly what my nutritional intake was. But I can tell you this: I continued to focus on high protein foods during the week and ate pretty much similar to what I did last week. When I ate out, which accounted for three lunches this week, I focused on salads with significant amounts of protein, usually chicken.

Exercise
I made it to two Zumba classes over the last week and did a fitness assessment at the new gym. I would say that counts as three workouts (almost). I am also still in PT for my postpartum issues, and this week we did biofeedback, which showed how weak my ab muscles are (very). I have been given a series of five exercises to do five days a week, so I started that on Wednesday night.

Other
I’ve continued to just feel better during the day eating more protein and less carbs. My sugar cravings have gone away for the most part. I managed to walk into a Corner Bakery without walking out with a monster cookie. Small victories.

The Bottom Line
-1.2 lbs, -4.8 total, 20.2 to go

I think I would have lost a bit more, but as I promised myself, I refuse to go overboard about being strict and not partake in social events. I hosted a potluck brunch for some new mom friends. There’s no way I’m not going to try a homemade cinnamon roll, so there’s that. And I had a couple of drinks over the weekend. Yesterday, there was a going away party for a coworker with tacos, so I had a couple of those, but I managed to avoid the chips. All in all, I can live with a slower weight loss if I get to live a less all-or-nothing existence.

Coming Up
I’m taking a Pilates reformer class today and have already signed Emme up for gym daycare on Sunday so I can go to Zumba. I need to start getting to the gym once or twice during the week, so I’ll give that a shot. As for eating, I have a bridal shower tonight, but otherwise a pretty low-key weekend, which should mean less treats.
